You are most likely aware that Google has phased out Universal Analytics (GA-3) and replaced it with GA-4.
If you didn’t do anything about migrating your tracking data, Google or your friendly agency did it for you.
And for the last year or so, you would have been getting used to the new GA-4 interface. Or not.
Either way, here is where it gets interesting.
GOOGLE WILL DELETE YOUR OLD DATA.
So, if you want to keep your traffic and conversion reports in Google Analytics, you will need to make a backup.
There are a number of ways how you can do that.
Here’s a link to Google’s options.
Basically, if you don’t act now, come July ALL your old Google Analytics data will be forever gone.
Especially if you are having a larger ecommerce site, or spend a significant amount on Google Ads or SEO, you should make sure you have a backup.
You probably don’t need it. Let’s face it. Most business owners rarely check their Google Analytics reports, but this time, if you don’t act, they will be forever lost.
And it’d be a bummer if you want to do some analysis, only to realise that your data is gone.
