Are you looking for a Sunshine Coast SEO consultant?
How much do you know about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)? Are you looking for ways to get more potential customers from Search Engine Marketing (SEM) campaigns with Google?
I get it. FREE traffic sounds tempting, but before you sign a 12 month contract with a SEO Sunshine Coast Agency, there is a few things you should be aware of.
Watch out: Dodgy Sunshine Coast SEO agencies
The reason I am asking is that a lot of business owners I speak to have been massively burned by dodgy SEO providers. I am all for SEO if it is done right and you know what you need and want.
I get it. We all want more traffic. Ideally free traffic, right? But it is not always that easy. For starters, a proper SEO campaign will take a few months to get results. So it should be part of your long term strategy, but do you need traffic right now or in a few months?
If you need traffic and leads right now, you need to start somewhere else. I’m not going to lie. I am a bit biased as we focus on PPC (pay per click) traffic generation. That is Google or Facebook ads. But let’s say you want to come up first for the term: SEO Sunshine Coast. You probably don’t, but I do. So let’s assume I am not ranking for SEO Sunshine Coast yet. Or maybe my organic ranking is on page 3 or 4. Well, realistically I am not going to go to the first page overnight. Right? Well, with a Google Ads campaign I can be on top within hours. I will be even above the organic result. And I can then test if this keyword, is actually generating me leads and sales, insteading of waiting days, or weeks or even months to rank organically for my goal term: SEO Sunshine Coast.
Have you considered Google Ads?
Let’s talk about Google Ads.
The way I see it, Google Ads should be your place to start? Why? Because we can put up some ads for you today, and get traffic tomorrow.
Let’s assume you want to rank for ten main keywords. Let’s create some ads, pay Google some money and drive some traffic to your website.
Now the big question is: Does your website convert? What do I mean by that? Well, no one wants traffic to their website. What we all want are leads or sales. So, at this stage, if your website gets traffic from the right keywords, do you get sales or leads? If you do great. Let’s add some SEO to the mix. But more often than not, getting traffic from the right keywords won’t turn that traffic into leads or sales. And that is where we need to start.
Google ads allow you to quickly test if your website is working. If it is, I would buy traffic from Google, while building out my SEO Sunshine Coast strategy and working with an SEO consultant. If it isn’t, we need to fix your website first.

Sunshine Coast SEO and digital marketing. Why are they important?
Search engine optimisation (SEO) and digital marketing go hand-in-hand when it comes to growing your business’s digital presence. They’re both vital components in building your brand and without them both working together, your marketing efforts are going to fail. But why exactly are SEO and digital marketing and advertising essential, and what could they provide you?
Understanding How People Find You
In the modern-day, people usually find other businesses by searching on Google first. Even if a friend has recommended them a store or service, they’re very likely to search on Google to confirm the location. And also check out the reviews to see if they’re a trustworthy company. Most internet sessions start with a Google search. Billions of users access Google daily, totalling to about 5.6 billion searches in a single day. Those are incredibly impressive stats and also a vast potential audience for your business.
If you want to grow your business, it’s important to understand just how big the audience on search engines is. You want people to search for a product or service and have your name appear at the top. Still, it would help if you also remembered that many other companies are competing for the same spot. To stand out from them, you have to focus on your digital presence as a whole. This means working on your authority as a service, the content you have on your website and also how popular you are on social media.
By taking in all of these different factors, you can drastically improve your business’s exposure on the internet, resulting in generating far more leads.
How Search Engine Optimisation and Digital Marketing Help
Search engine optimisation is a method of acquiring more internet traffic by making your website more appealing to search engines. This means using more keywords that are searched by your audience or making your website more attractive to mobile users. You can achieve this by having fast-loading pages, seamless browsing experience and a responsive website.
Digital marketing, on the other hand, is a term used to describe many different advertising platforms. For instance, it could cover search engine optimisation but also social media pages, pay-per-click advertising, email marketing, email ads, and so on.
As such, you can consider SEO a form of digital marketing.

It’s common sense to expect a return on your adspend
There’s too many times we’ve heard:
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. Basically, it means to optimise your website, so Google ranks it higher when someone searches for a keyword you want to rank for. The idea is that the higher you rank, the more traffic you get for free. This used to be true to a degree, but keep in mind you will spend money or time to get to the first page and more money and more time to get to number one on the first page. And then even more money to maintain this position. And to make things worse, before any organic results show, you get up to 4 paid Google Ads, followed by Google business listings. This is why we recommend starting with a Google Ads strategy. Once you know what keywords are getting you good traffic and are valuable, you can invest some money to rank organically as well as on the paid listings.
There are a few things you can do before you get an SEO agency involved. For starters, make sure your website is up to date. That includes mobile responsive. Make sure it loads reasonably fast. Make sure you have a variety of pages with relevant content. You want more than a couple hundred words per page. Then look at your site title and site description. Then look at your page titles and page descriptions. Finally, review the website content on each page. Make sure the keyword you want to rank for is included in those pages. Make sure you have relevant headers (h1,h2,h3)
It really depends on how much work has already been done on your website. How old the website is. How much content do you already have on your website and if your website is already ranking? Then it depends on how competitive your keywords are. If your website is let’s say on page 5, you haven’t done much work, and you’re up against local competition only, you might be able to get to page 1 within 2-3 weeks. To get to the first page first result will take quite a bit longer.
Prices for SEO services can vary greatly. You can pay from a few hundred dollars per month to tens of thousands. The problem is that there is no shortage of SEO providers. And SEO is complicated to track. It can take weeks or months for your rankings to move. We generally recommend starting with a Google Ads campaign. First, find out which keywords you want to rank for. Then once you know that there is enough volume for your keywords, and you know that your website converts that traffic, start working or paying to get your website to rank. Otherwise, you might be wasting thousands of dollars and month of work ranking the wrong keywords. There is a reason that the first 4 results are Google ads.
Local SEO is a more niche realm of SEO. It focuses on making sure your store appears top in the results of people in your local area. Search engines are smart and know where people are searching from. When the search engines generate results, they’ll show local results above further afield results to these people. This is convenient for them. Local Sunshine Coast SEO focuses on making sure search engines know what area your Small Business is based in, to show you as a Local business to people based nearby.
So, the problem with organic keywords is that different people search for different terms. So what term should you optimise your website for? In my example, people search for both terms. Should you rank for plumber sunshine coast or sunshine coast plumber? Unfortunately, you will have to include both terms on your site. Google is getting better and better at related search terms, and your website will rank for both keywords even if you focus on one more than the other But the one with the highest density (referred to most often) will outrank the other. If that makes sense.
